Seth Rogen's Hilarity for Charity Rocks Netflix with Alzheimer's Awareness Variety Show

It’s no surprise that Seth Rogen’s funny bone has taken him all the way to a spot in Netflix with Hilarity for Charity. Of course, Seth Rogen doesn’t stray far from what he’s originally known for, but behind the mask of comedy, Rogen’s Hilarity for Charity isn’t just a show that makes people laugh out loud. It’s a collaborative effort to help millennials become aware of Alzheimer’s disease. In fact, it’s a means to raise funds for research on Alzheimer’s disease as well.

What is Hilarity for Charity?

In 2012, Seth and Lauren Rogan created Hilarity for Charity to raise funds to help families struggling with Alzheimer’s care, increase support groups nationwide, and fund cutting edge research. Since the start, Hilarity for Charity has raised more than $7.5 million to support these efforts. The organization is known for developing programs to help advocate for alzheimer's patients and their families. For instance, they have an Alzheimer’s Care Grant Program that’s aimed at offering care to families with members who are inflicted by the disease.

Hilarity for Clarity also partners with the 'Home Instead Senior Care' to reach out to more families with loved ones suffering from the dreaded disease and other types of dementia. They have already provided a total of 211,000 hours of in-home care to families all around the US and Canada.

The organization was founded because of the struggle that Lauren Rogen had with her mom’s Alzheimer’s disease. She understood how hard it is on her mom how her other family members are affected as well. Because of her own personal experience, she wanted to reach out to other families who also share the similar difficulty of being a caregiver. 

Having a loved one with the disease not emotionally burdens the family but also puts a huge financial strain on them as well.  This is why Ms. Rogen wants to do her part to help out these families.

What’s the Hilarity for Charity Netflix Special About?

While the purpose of the program is serious, Seth Rogen brings in the big guns of the comedy biz such as Sarah Silverman, Michael Che, Tiffany Haddish, and surprisingly even the Muppets.

There are also a few serious moments in the film, such as the second segment where the beloved Kermit the Frog takes to the stage. Kermit has always been a fan favorite for those who grew up watching the Muppets. That’s why his main scene was a very special one and deserved quite a bit of spotlight. In the segment, he sings “The Rainbow Connection” along with Seth and Lauren Rogen. This in itself was one of the most touching moments in the show as it was the perfect wrap up from a bunch of funny stoner-style segments.
