Teen Fighting Lymphoma Has Prom of Her Dreams with Wig of Friend’s Hair

The decision to get the ultimate gift

Smith became emotional when talking about how she had come up with the idea to cut her own hair and to raise money for a wig for her friend. While talking with White, she could feel the young teen’s devastation over losing her hair. “She said, ‘I never thought that I would want a wig, but after sitting here today in hair that’s falling out all over my body, I think I might want one. I don’t know what I’m going to do for prom. I don’t know what I’m going to do for family vacations, every day at school, and I think it might be nice to be able to switch things up’,” said Smith.

It was then that Smith went online to do research and she found a company called Caring and Comfort that makes custom wigs out of human hair. So, she decided to start raising funds and surprise her friend with a wig as a gift. Smith, who had not cut her hair since elementary school, had 24 inches cut off at The Spa on West Main in Westminster. The hair was gathered, bagged, and packaged to be sent away.
