The Emotional Rollercoaster of Diabetes
What should diabetics be on the look-out for?
Anyone who has a chronic disorder like diabetes will at some point deal with out of control emotions. They might have a day or two of feeling blue or frustrated or even find themselves in denial. The thing to remember is that if those feelings continue for more than a few weeks without going away, then those few blue days might turn into a full-blown depression. A few other symptoms of depression to keep an eye open for are:
- Trouble concentration
- Loss of interest in hobbies or pulling back from normal activities
- Sleeping too much or not being able to sleep at all
- Irritability or anxiousness
- Loss of appetite or overeating
- Talk of death or thoughts of suicide
- Unexplained pain, cramps, digestive issues
- Restlessness or extreme fatigue
- Pulling away from people, family or friends
