A more solid shape but lumpy? You're still constipated, just not as badly

This type of bowel movement is similar to Type 1 and shows constipation as well. It involves straining and discomfort to pass because it is similar in size to the opening of the anal canal. Normally stool is in the colon for about 72 hours. Typically this type means it’s been in longer.

If it last 10 days or more, you’ll want to see your doctor.

Considered: Mild Constipation

Sausage-shaped with cracks? Hooray, it's normal!

For the most part, your doctor will say this is normal. It shouldn’t take much straining and you will feel like you are finished after you have gone.

If it's smooth and S-shaped, you have the ideal poop

This is fairly normal as well and you should have a bowel movement of this type every 1-3 days.

Soft blobs? Normal once in a while, but if frequent, you need more fiber

This type is usually after a sense of urgency. Again, fairly normal for someone who goes more than once a day. For someone who goes less frequently, this might be as a result of stress or eating something out of the ordinary that didn’t agree with you.

Considered: Lacking fiber
