According to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, “rates of depression are higher among patients with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis compared to other diseases, as well as the general population.” There is a reason that these chronic, inflammatory bowel diseases are so strongly linked to depression. The disease itself makes everyday life difficult, and has a strong negative impact on multiple aspects of life.
