Cystic Fibrosis: Tips for Caregivers
Stay healthy
The stress from giving care can take a toll on your body, so it is important to ensure that your body is in as good of a shape as it can be.
Too often, caregivers focus on the health of their ward and ignore their own. This often leads to burnout or becoming ill, harming both parties. Take care of yourself and you can take care of others better.
Diet and exercise are very important. Your body responds to stress better when you consume healthy food instead of junk food. It also learns to quickly adapt to stress when you exercise. You do not have to become a gym rat for this, just go on frequent walks and work out occasionally.
It can be difficult to find time to work out, but just a few minutes of exercise has innumerable benefits over zero minutes of exercise.
