Foods to Reduce Sleep Apnea
Tryptophan-rich foods
In the same vein as melatonin-rich foods, ingredients which contain the tryptophan amino acid can help us have longer and deeper sleep cycles. The reasoning behind this is that tryptophan is a substance which, after being consumed, helps to transform serotonin in our body into melatonin which, as was mentioned above, is the hormone responsible for making us feel sleepy and resting better at night or during afternoon naps.
The active mechanism is the same as melatonin, with the main difference being that these foods indirectly assist in promoting sleep by promoting the creation of the substance. Some ingredients which contain significant amounts of tryptophan are turkey, dairy products like cheese, milk, and yogurt, seafood, legumes, grains, and some fruits and vegetables like apples, bananas, and turnips, among others.
