Organizations Give Gifts to Boost Morale of Cancer Patients
Knocking it out of the park
Cincinnati Reds' star scored more than a home run at a recent game against the Mets. After running the bases, he waved at 6-year-old cancer patient Walter Herbert, who he had met a few days before due to the Make-a-Wish Foundation. When Walter asked him if he had any bubblegum, Votto made sure that wasn't all Walter would get. He took him to the Reds clubhouse where he found some gum, and also a baseball bat he could keep. Finally, they took a picture together so Walter could remember the occasion.
Walter's mom explained, "we did not expect that. We thought he'd say hi when he recognized him. We were very surprised he went all out."
