New treatments on the horizon
While there is no cure for AD, there are several medications and management strategies available that may help to temporarily alleviate or improve symptoms of AD. James E. Galvin, MD, Professor of Integrated Medical Science and Associate Dean for Clinical Research, Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine, Florida Atlantic University, was published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society for his study on potential preventive strategies for AD. Dr. Galvin states that currently, four new medications have been approved for the treatment of AD and promising research efforts are in progress to develop new treatments by the year 2025.
