A previous study by the National Sleep Foundation reported that an average American sleep for 6 hours and 40 minutes during work days and about 7 hours and 25 minutes on the remaining days. The study found that this had health consequences that are dramatic and life threatening. People with endocrine disorders like metabolic disorders suffer from sleep disturbances. Poor quality sleep and sleep restriction is a risk factor for type 2 diabetes and obesity.
