Adenoiditis

1 What is Adenoiditis?

Adenoiditis is the inflammation and enlargement of adenoids, the glands situated higher up in the mouth, behind the nose and roof of the mouth.

Adenoids are helpful in trapping harmful germs that pass through the nose and mouth.

They are also important in producing antibodies to fight against the infectious agents.

Adenoids often get smaller around the age of 5-6 and disappear by 14 years as the body develops the immune system.
