Daypro, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug or NSAID, is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate pain. It is also used for the symptomatic relief of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
It decreases inflammation, stiffness, swelling, and joint pain. However, oxaprozin will not cure it. It only alleviates pain with regular use. You can only buy this medication with a doctor’s prescription, and it is usually available as a tablet.
Before using Daypro, you must know all about the risks and complications associated with it. You should also consider a number of factors. Do not take Daypro if you’ve had allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients.
For a full list, check the label. You also need to inform your physician if you have allergies to food, dyes, preservatives, animals, or other medications. Studies have found that oxaprozin is safe and effective for patients aging 6 to 16 years. Adequate studies have also revealed that oxaprozin does not cause geriatric-specific problems.

Oxaprozin is a pregnancy category C, and there has been little research regarding its effects on breastfeeding infants. Pros and cons should be considered carefully in both cases. Concomitant use of ketorolac is not recommended.
You should inform your doctor if you have the following medical conditions: anemia, asthma, bleeding problems/blood clots, edema, heart attack/heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney disease, liver disease, stomach ulcers, history of stroke, aspirin sensitivity, dehydration, and pre/post heart surgery.
To use Daypro properly, you must follow all instructions given by your doctor. When you are taking Daypro, follow your physician’s instructions regarding the dose, timing, and treatment duration. Do not change anything unless you are told by your doctor. This is so that the medication can work properly and safely.
For severe and chronic arthritis, take oxaprozin regularly or as directed by your healthcare provider. It may take 1-2 weeks for this medication to take effect. This dose will depend on several factors and is different for everyone.
Adults with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis need to take 1200 mg once daily. The dose for children ages 6-16 will be calculated based on body weight. This should be determined by your doctor. If you missed a dose, take is as soon as you remember.
But if it’s almost the time of the next one, skip it and resume your normal schedule. Store your medications in a safe place away from children’s reach. Do not expose your tablets to heat, direct light or moisture. You should also throw away outdated medications.
In using Daypro, you must be careful and take some precautions as advised by your doctor. You should always go to your follow-up appointments so that your doctor can monitor your progress and prevent side effects.
You also need to take precautionary measures. Daypro can increase your risk of getting a heart attack or serious heart problems.
Get medical attention right away if you have tightness in chest, chest pain, unusual warmth of skin, fast or irregular heartbeat, weakness, or slurring of speech. Oxaprozin also puts you at risk of developing stomach ulcers or bleeding.
Discuss the risk factors with your physician. In rare cases, this medicine can cause anaphylaxis, which is a severe allergic reaction. This usually occurs in people who are allergic to aspirin or other NSAIDs. Get emergency medical attention if you start having very fast or irregular breathing, wheezing, gasping for breath, or fainting.
This medication can also increase your skin’s sensitivity to sunlight. Before you have any surgery or medical procedures were done, inform the doctors that you are on oxaprozin.
Daypro can also cause several side effects although you may not experience any of them.
Other side effects that may not need treatment include sour stomach, belching, stomach discomfort, hearing loss, tinnitus, passing gas, unusual drowsiness, or trouble sleeping. Inform your doctor if you experience any unusual side effects.
