10 of the Earliest Signs of Autism

Delayed speech

As mentioned, there are certain milestones that parents expect when raising a child. Language is one of the biggest one, and by the age of three, most children begin to play around with speech, often saying nonsensical words. However, if your child has not begun this phase until much later, it may be a sign that they could have autism.

Experts say that by age one, children should be capable of saying a few words, and by 18 months they should be able to say at least six words, by two they should have access to short phrases, and by three they should be able to put together simple sentences.
