It's Time for Educators to Get Educated on Managing Children with Diabetes
The best advocates: Parents
Parents have the crucial role of finding a school that provides, at the very least, a minimum level of healthcare. Before even signing up, they should check the institution’s policies, health care plans for diabetes, and the availability of the necessary tools (glucose meter, insulin etc.) for their children’s medical condition. Planned meet-ups with the school’s medical personnel are as necessary as providing teachers with up-to-date information about their children’s needs. If need be, parents may even demonstrate administering their children’s medication to be sure that teachers and medical personnel on the premises to understand what management involves.
