Coming to Terms with an Autism Diagnosis
Prepare for questions
A lot of people may be shocked or surprised to hear about your condition, and they may want to try and understand it a bit more. It is up to you whether or not you want to explain your condition further (it might be hard enough just to tell them that you or your child has autism in the first place). It might be helpful to actually talk with someone about what you experience. It gives them a better grasp of what you're going through, and it can also be a little therapeutic to talk with someone about it.
