Abnormal Liver Ultrasound?

Liver US findings: "increased parenchymal echogenicity w/out focal mass lesion." Impression: "Echodense liver consistent w/ diffuse hepatocellular disease- differential steatosis, hep, cirrhosis." Blood and diet good no alcohol since Jan. No symptoms, lost weight, not diabetic, cholesterol 200 Tryglic. normal, blood pressure is also normal. Had an ab/pelvic CT Scan w/ contrast (for pelvic pain) in January, no problems w/ scan except it showed fat deposits on the liver, so to follow up on this my GP ordered this US last week. She's referred me to a gastro but not able to see him until mid-August. I am very worried and wondering if I should seek another (to get in sooner) for further testing, tx plan, etc. Thank you so much.

Echogenic liver on ultrasound is a nonspecific finding and can have a few causes. Most of it can be a sign of a fatty liver. Make sure your doctor follows up with blood work.
You should follow up with a gastroenterologist as soon as possible for further workup.
I would call around for gastroenterologists in your area. Someone may be able to see you sooner (we have cancellations and no-shows all the time). Since you have multiple medical issues, further workup is necessary.
Fatty liver is very common and would be the most likely explanation, especially if you're overweight or obese. If you have a history of heavy alcohol use, then liver damage may have accumulated over the years. A fibroscan can be done before you see the GI doctor. This test can measure the fat content in the liver with more precision and also detect any scarring of the liver.
