“Alzheimer's”
My question concerns my wife that has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. I am trying to find a medicine that will control mental issues that seem to frustrate her ability to control. She has these spells that cause her to feel what appears to be pain that she cannot describe. Her reaction is vocally cussing and slapping her head. This reoccurs on various days and some time in the morning and other times in the evening.

A neurologist or psychiatrist might be able to help.
She is having behavioral disturbances of dementia and most of them are treatable. There is no FDA-approved medicine. There are trials going on for medicines to come in the future. I know Arch Clinical Trials is doing a study on a medicine that can help her with these behaviors. Their no is 314-2823521.

Actually, in my experience, medication is a very poor way to control those symptoms. Quietly engaging the person with attention and engagement is always more powerful. Anyone who has a good relationship with her can be helpful.
