Hematologist (Blood Specialist) Questions Hematologist

Antibodies in red blood cells?

I recently donated plasma and was deferred because I have antibodies in my red blood cells. I didn’t get much info about it so I was wondering what could be the cause since I have never been pregnant and I have never had a blood transfusion. I was also wondering if this is dangerous or something I should get checked out.

Hmm. The most common causes of developing antibodies are from blood transfusion, from pregnancy or even from exposure to some viruses and bacteria. Thinking deeper, it could be cause by your immune system? But this is rare, specially at your age. Anyway, check with a Hematologist (internal Medicine Specialty) to do some tests if necessary. Thank you.
