Anxiety medication that doesn’t cause sexual dysfunction or weight gain?

I have tried almost every SSRI and a couple of antidepressants. They have all caused loss of sexual interest and anorgasmia. What medications would you recommend for anxiety that doesn’t cause those side effects for daily use? I have anxiety attacks almost daily.

First off, it’s really positive that you want to make this change — that’s a huge step. Recovering from 30 years of meth use is definitely challenging but absolutely possible with the right support. If you have any further questions or need more clarity, please consult with a psychiatrist. If you`re in Texas, we welcome you to reach out to www.MidCitiesPsychiatry.com, we`re here to help you.
Medications with serotonergic properties can have these side effects. Buspirone can be used for anxiety reduction and low-dose antihistamine for panic attacks. Wellbutrin isn’t known to have these side effects but is not usually the best medication for anxiety.

Have you tried cognitive behavioral therapy for panic attacks? This can help you gain control of anxiety without any side effects in as little as 3 months.
Hi, Thank you for your question. For recommendations related to psychotropic medications, I would recommend you seek consultation with a psychiatrist or medical doctor. Examples of antianxiety meds include benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium, Ativan, Klonopin) and non-benzodiazepines (Buspar). Examples of antidepressant meds include Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs- Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil)/Serotonin-Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors (SNRIs-Effexor, Cymbalta), Tricyclics (TCAs- Elavil, Anafranil, Tofranil), Monoamine-Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs- Nardil, Marplan), and others like Wellbutrin and Remeron. I hope this has been helpful!
Please consult with a psychiatrist for the answer to your questions. I am not an MD, I have a Ph.D., and can answer questions about types of psychotherapy that might be helpful for panic attacks.
