Are partial dentures comfortable?

I want to get partial dentures. Are partial dentures comfortable?

It does take time to get used to it and you may need a few adjustments to feel better with partial denture . Anything new needs time to get used to .
Hi, thank you for asking this question! Yes, one can use waterpick with partial dentures. However, in order to be able to clean your teeth and your gum properly and thoroughly, I will inform all of my patients to remove all partial dentures out of their mouth first. This way, one can properly FLOOS, BRUSH and then use Waterpik at the end. In addition, if a dental patient has history of periodontal ( gum ) desease, she/he may also need to use presceiption mouthwash and maybe even Doxcycline (20mg) antibiotics twice daily to control the health of their gum. In conslusion, never use the Waterpik while you are wearing the partial denture in your mouth. Hope that this will help.
they are ok but if you never had any, it will take time to get used to it
Partial dentures are well tolerated when constructed properly by an experienced dentist.
In the beginning, it takes some adjustment. Partials are a prosthetic. So just like a prosthetic hand, they are functional but never the same as the original. So you have to learn how they work for you. It takes 6-8 weeks of wearing them over 8 hours a day for them to start feeling like they are part of your teeth. When you first place partials, they may rub, feel bulky, feel uncomfortable, but it is very normal. The gum tissues also need to adjust to the partial. So tissues will move, shirt, grow, thicken to adjust to the partial. If the partial is causing pain or downs feel like it fits correctly, your dentist should adjust areas to make them feel more comfortable.
They can be if made correctly
