Are varicose veins serious?

I have varicose veins in my legs. Are varicose veins serious?

They are typically not serious but if they cause you discomfort or are associated with a venous ulcer they can be treated
Varicose veins can cause life-limiting symptoms of heaviness, fatigue, and swelling. If the disease progresses it can eventually result in scarring and/or an open ulcer of the leg. So while varicose vein disease is not life-threatening, it can have a major impact on quality of life.
Generally not. You should see your physician to determine their severity. There are other conditions that are more serious and involved with varicose veins.
Varicose veins generally do not cause any life-threatening problems. However, you should be evaluated by a vascular surgeon for a more complete assessment.
