Not usually. On occasion if you have severe anxiety or if you have conditions like fibromyalgia I may consider using either a sedative or preprocedure pain medication. For most patients, just local anesthesia (in the skin area to be worked on) is enough.
Laser surgery should use conscious sedation.
Usually just local anesthesia.
