Asthma treatment?

I have chronic asthma if I take Montelukast 10 mg one pill at night for 6 months will I heal from my asthma?

No. Montelukast by itself is a supportive treatment. The best treatment for chronic asthma is a daily (or twice daily) inhaled corticosteroid (such as beclomethasone Qvar, budesonide Pulmicort, fluticasone Flovent and others).

Montelucast can help you feel better, and could reduce some of your symptoms, if your asthma is allergic. However, it will not “cure” your asthma. If you have allergic asthma, it may be possible to have allergy testing, and allergy shots tailored to your allergens, or possibly sublingual drops instead of shots, which might cure you. Please consult with your pulmonary specialist or allergist.
