Bloody Stool and Mild Anemia

I’ve had bloody stool and rectal bleeding for nine weeks. It has gotten progressively worse. At the beginning, blood was mixed in to the stool, and as of today, it is both in the stool and in the toilet. I will sometimes just release blood into the toilet (often mixed with a clear, mucus-like substance) and no stool at all. There are also floating pieces of dark red stool that float, and sometimes appear stringy. I was evaluated at the ER and no external hemorrhoids/masses/fissures were found. They did find mild anemia with a hemoglobin of 10.8. I have extreme urgency to go and have started going more than 5/6 times a day, as compared to once or twice as was my usual. I’ve also recently started having a dull aching pain in my upper right abdomen, near my ribs, and pain in the same spot but on my back. I’ve been referred to gastroenterology from my PCP, but the wait time is almost three months. Not sure if it’s ok to wait that long. I also don’t want to be embarrassed my going back to the emergency room and having nothing be found again.

I see a formed stool. Any diarrhea? Main issue here is the concern for inflammatory bowel disease such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease. At your age, cancer is less likely (any family history of this?). Maybe trying another gastroenterology office to see if they can see you earlier to get a colonoscopy.
