Bulging Vein in Palm of Hand- Pain

Right palm of hand has bulging vein from base of thumb to base of index finger. Bulging approximately 4 inches long. Pain comes and goes. Hurts more with hand at my side. Hurts less with hand above head. 33yro male, generally healthy. Bulging is very prominent with some discoloration. Can feel pulse when palpating the bulge on hand. Causes pain at palm of hand and up the index finger. No trauma. Randomly occurred.

Hello, there are many things that could be causing the symptoms you are describing but you will need a hands on physical exam and imaging (either an ultrasound or a CT angiogram) to narrow down the differential diagnosis.
Given your history of heart palpitations I would be most concerned about an embolus or blood clot in the arteries of your hand vs an aneurism of one of the arteries in your hand. Please make an appointment to be seen by a hand surgeon ASAP because both of these issues would require timely treatment to prevent further problems.

Generally speaking veins do no pulsate. This is concerning for a possible aneurysm or other vascular anomaly.
An evaluaion by a fellowship-trained board-certified hand surgeon is recommended.

Most likely an A-V malformation. Benign but if bothersome can be excused . J Imbriglia
