Lymphocytes: 6.1% Range 10.0 – 60. Granulocytes 100 Leukocytes 30.3%, range is 37.0-80.0. What it means is that there is a mild infection and that’s why those values are minimally elevated. Now, if the child gets a high fever, and becomes irritable, please take the child to the emergency room after calling your pediatrician. Toddlers usually get mild infections while building their immune system. Keep in contact with your pediatrician.
WBC = white blood cells: (LEUKOCYTES) Most of the time indicates that you are fighting infection or inflammation. Normal range is 4,500 to 11,000 WBCs per microliter (4.5 to 11.0 x 109/L).
There are three major classifications of WBCs. The main purpose of WBCs is to recognize intruders.
• Monocytes – They have a longer lifespan than other WBCs. They help to break down bacteria.
• Lymphocytes – They create antibodies to fight against bacteria, viruses, and other invaders to the body.
• Granulocytes – They kill and digest bacteria, fungi, and many other things. Neutrophils, Eosinophils, and Basophils are a subset of granulocytes. Basophils are mainly responsible for allergens. Eosinophils are responsible for parasitic infections. Thank you.
