“Can COVID infection cause high levels of protein in urine ?”
I have high protein levels in my urine after a COVID infection. What should I do?

Any infection can lead to protein in the urine, and COVID-19 infection is not different. The question is how much is it a single urine abnormality. My suggestion is to make an appointment with a nephrologist to guide your evaluation.

This is a very complicated question. If you have prior urine tests without protein, that certainly increases the suspicion that your Covid infection may have caused a kidney injury. Covid has certainly been documented to either reactivate previous immune mediated kidney diseases or cause new kidney diseases. If you have protein in the urine, you should see a kidney specialist.
Any kind of infection can lead to inflammation in the filter of the kidney. So yes you could get high levels of protein following an infection. You need to see a kidney specialist and cut back the amount of protein (meat/cheese) in your diet.
Yes, COVID-19 might cause element of kidney tissue inflammation and cause a temporary rise in the urine protein. If the inflammation is severe, permanent damage might occur, but if mild, it would most likely reverse. Also, Flu can also cause protein in the urine during the peak of viral infection and symptoms.
