What you need to be cautious about for DM2 is sugar. Chocolate has many types, some containing mostly sugar, which you should avoid; Some chocolate contains less sugar, for example, dark chocolate that contains less than 20% of sugar; you may be able to consume this type a few squares daily up to lunchtime ( consuming it too late may cause you to be difficult to sleep). This type of chocolate contains polyphenols, which is beneficial.
Dark chocolate can have the lowest glycemic index which is helpful in keeping glucose levels down if eaten in moderation.
