Can a kidney injury heal on its own?

It depends on the type of acute kidney injury. If it is of short duration and also depends on the insult kidneys will regain the function back. If the insult is prolonged, it may take longer time to recover and sometimes may not recover fully or not recover at all.
Yes.

More often that not, yes. Kidney labs and urine should repeated to be sure.
