Can a person recover from psychosis?

I am a 27 year old female. I want to know if a person can recover from psychosis?

Yes. But recovery depends on many different factors, like the believed cause of the psychosis, diagnoses, and treatment approach. It’s not a one size fits all recovery process, regardless of age.
Hi,

Thank you for your question. Psychosis duration and recovery time will depend on how the person experiences psychosis and what induces the psychotic episode. Psychosis can be brought on by mental health issues such as bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, but it can also be the result of drug use. Take for example a brief psychotic disorder vs. schizophrenia. A brief psychotic disorder lasts for one month or less.
Hello and thank you for your question,

Yes, a person can recover from psychosis. Sometimes a psychotic episode is temporary and how long it lasts can depend on a few different factors.

Thank you,

Yes, I have worked with someone who could return to school and work with a diagnosis that has symptoms of psychosis. It is important to continue regular routine on meeting with a psychiatrist and a therapist. Most importantly, consult with your psychiatrist if you have any questions or concerns regarding your medication.
Yes, with proper treatment. It is important to remain medication compliant. Some psychotic events are drug-induced. This may occur with illicit drug use. Those events usually resolve once the medication or substance use stops. Every case is unique but yes it's possible.

I am certain if the individual works at it, of course. You know YOU. With guidance, the right tools, and support.
