Alcohol addiction is a difficult ailment to trat. It requires a holistic approach and close monitoring.
Part of addiction is genetic. And diagnosis is based on behavior. Therefore it cant go away on its own. One must change behavior and address unresolved issues of alcoholism. And for some people once an alcoholic always an alcoholic and can never drink again
Most patients with true alcohol addiction require a trained highly experience physician to safely detox and not relapse. JJM
