Allergies cannot be cured with medication, but they can be managed. Avoidance if you can of the allergen is the first line of management. There are over the counter medications called antihistamines such as Loratadine or Cetirizine that help to control symptoms for 24 hours at a time without causing drowsiness. If those are not working well enough, you may have to add a steroid nasal spray like Flonase, Nasonex or Rhinocort, which are also over the counter. When that combination doesn't work, you may need prescription medication and management by a doctor.
Allergic rhinitis symptoms can be managed with allergy sprays or pills, or even natural alternatives such as SinusReLeaf Hemp-based CBG & Xylitol Natural Sinus Rinse. However, immunotherapy (or "allergy shots") is the only way to "fix" allergies.

The symptoms of allergic rhinitis do respond to medications however medications cannot fully resolve the condition esp. if the exposure to the allergic triggers continue.  Monika Korff, MDFACAAIoffice-410-730-6000www.allergyasthmamaryland.com
