Exercises can help with knee arthritis. Spinal adjustments can also help with knee arthritis. Arthritis is an excess load on the joint that is more than it can handle. In the knee, that can be from 2 main causes, 1. muscles around the knee aren't strong enough to absorb shock in the knee, or 2. the joint itself is twisted or torqued. Sometimes the torque on a knee is from the knee joint itself, sometimes there is a rotation in the pelvis the puts torsion on the knee. I would be curious to see how the body's balance is, and see if there is any rotation in the spine or pelvis that might be contributing to the added load on the knee.
Depending on the severity of the arthritis, motion of the affected area is usually beneficial. The phrase "motion is the lotion" expresses the advantages of keeping an area mobile. Exercising can help, but one must be careful NOT to overstress the area. Work into a routine slowly.
Yes, any strengthening of the knee joint can help with stabilizing the knee, and preventing further injury.
