Laser therapy can help treating the gum disease.
ABSOLUTELY, LASER IS A VALID TREATMETN WITH SPECIFIC INDICATIONS. IT IS NOT A FOR ALL PROCEDURE, DISCUSS WITH YOUR PROVIDER THE PROS AND CONS OF EACH OPTION
Laser therapy, specifically known as Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP), is a minimally invasive option for treating gum disease. It involves the use of lasers to remove diseased tissue and bacteria from the gums, promoting healing and attachment. Compared to traditional gum surgery, LANAP is less painful, requires no cutting or suturing, and offers a quicker recovery time. While the American Dental Association has not yet approved laser therapy for gum disease treatment, studies have shown it to be a safe and effective alternative to conventional methods.
In a very short answer.yes.but it all depends on several factors. There are many types of dental lasers and they all operate at different frequencies or energy levels. So one has to have the right type of laser.and typically the two that can help are either erbium:yag or Nd:yag laser; diode lasers will not work. And although they can be used to treat gum disease they are simply a tool that can help with healing and improving the bacterial environment around teeth/gums/implants.but they are not a cure per se and often other treatments are necessary especially in severe cases. And to date no one has discovered a method of reversing the bone loss that occurs with gum disease, so the best one can do is simply stop the disease process from progressing. Dr. Balogh
Certainly. I use it on some of my patients. It sterilizes as it removes sick gum tissue, sealing blood vessels and nerve endings, but hard buildup of tartar(calculus) must still be scraped off with conventional cavitron ultrasonics and hand scaling. Healing is usually less painful, but no faster.
Yes, laser therapy can be used to treat gum disease: - How it works: Laser therapy uses a laser to remove infected tissue and bacteria from the gums, while leaving healthy tissue intact. The laser can also stimulate new tissue growth and seal blood vessels and nerve endings. - Benefits: Laser therapy is a minimally invasive alternative to traditional gum surgery. It can reduce pain and bleeding, and speed up healing. Laser therapy also doesn't require general anesthesia. - Effectiveness: Laser therapy is effective for treating early-stage gum disease, and can also be used for more advanced cases, though it may require multiple treatments. - Aftercare: After treatment, you may need to rest and recover, but you should be able to return to normal activities fairly quickly. - If you're considering laser therapy for gum disease, you should talk to your dentist or periodontist about the benefits and risks. Ignoring the symptoms of gum disease can result in tooth loss, bone decay, and other severe health issues. Fortunately, laser periodontal therapy is an effective and minimally invasive treatment option for those who suffer from gum disease. We do not offer this service.
