Can local anesthesia be done for inguinal hernia surgery?

I will have inguinal hernia surgery. Can local anesthesia be used for inguinal hernia surgery?

Yes. Local anesthesia with sedation could be helpful for inguinal surgery.
It can be, but most surgeons I have worked with prefer general anesthesia.
I would not recommend local only. Pt moving or resisting the surgeon's efforts can cause poor repair/bleeding.
It can be done under local anesthesia and open technique. Usually considered in high-risk surgical candidates. But doing it under general anesthesia with laparoscopic or robotic technique helps in early recovery and better pain control post-operation.
