“Can teething cause ear pain?”
My baby is teething and is tugging at her ear. I wonder if teething can cause ear pain?

Hi there! Yes it is common for babies to tug on their ears when teething. However, if the baby is fussy, not feeding well, has a fever (even low grade) or has nasal congestion it would be wise to have the ears examined to make sure there is not an infection. Sometimes teething itself can cause dysfunction of the Eustachian tubes and lead to an ear infection.
Teething can cause ear pain, especially when teeth that are further back in the mouth are coming in. Usually this is short-lived, and should not cause a fever or major sleep problems, so if it seems to be persisting or causing extreme fussiness or fever, you should see your pediatrician for an evaluation.
