I will have thyroid surgery. I am afraid of general anesthesia. Can thyroid surgery be done under local anesthesia?

Short answer: no. This is not small surgery, it is serious. You will be evaluated by Anesthesia and they'll take care of you.

Unlikely. It is actually much safer to do under general anesthesia.
