I have an ear infection. It hurts bad. Can you be admitted to the hospital for an ear infection?

No - unless the infection is mastoiditis - which is an infection behind the ear within the skull. Very rare. Ear infections hurt, but you don't get admitted for them.
Extremely rare. Only usually in mastoiditis or malignant otitis externa.
Only certain ear infections meet criteria for admission to the hospital. Just because is painful is not an indication for hospitalization.
