Can you have surgery if your have diabetes?

I have diabetes type 2. I need to have surgery. Can you have surgery if your sugar is high?

Having high blood sugars before or during the surgery increases the risk of complications.
Yes, we use insulin.
Diabetes should be reasonably controlled prior to surgery. Otherwise, the risk of complications is higher. Concerning issues are infections and wound healing. Preoperative medical evaluation by the primary medical provider is strongly recommended.
To have scheduled (elective) surgery, the preference is for your blood sugar to be less than 300, if not 250 or 200.
