Can you use a mouthguard with braces?

I wear braces. I wonder if I can use a mouthguard with braces?

Yes you can use a mouth guard with braces and you should.

Probably not because the teeth are being moved and the mouth guards could act as a retention device, so I would not recommend it.
On any mouth guard you use make sure it is orthodontic. It's a little wider to accommodate the size of the appliance between the two and your soft tissue with the mouth guard texting against injury. While it's uncomfortable at first it's not too invasive and it gets to be a habit to put it in when engaging in sports
Yes of course you must protect your teeth! Please be sure it is a mouthguard specifically made to be used with braces so you don’t break your braces or interfere with the progress of your treatment.
