Gastroenterologist Questions

Constipated for a long time, stuck my finger up there and felt something unsettling.

I’ve been constipated for quite some time, I tend to spend hours on the toilet to push out a few tiny little stools here n there. Today I stuck my finger up there and felt around, after I got in a couple inches I felt an area that was tightly closed, I moved my finger back and forth and was able to get it up inside the area. It felt like I was trying to push my finger into someone’s closed fist, the entire length was tightly closed and felt hard. I had been taking stool softeners for years and then I stopped and tried milk of magnesia and bisacodyl, at first I would get liquid diarrhea with tons of blood in it, then the next day or so I would pass lots of very tiny pieces that would add up to A LOT. Both of those laxatives have stopped working completely, so I haven’t taken anything at all for like 4-5 days now I think. If I strain a lot, I’m able to pass very small stools, maybe two at a time and then nothing for up to a few hours.

You need to see a Gastroenterologist and get a COLONOSCOPY as soon as possible. Do not put it off. Joe Webster, Sr., MD, MBA, FACP
You may have a stool impaction in the rectum. This needs to be cleared out either by a massive oral prep, large volume enema or a manual disimpaction (by a health provider).
Once the colon is cleared of stool,, then stay on an aggressive daily bowel regimen with 2 or more laxatives.
