Do I have a yeast infection? How can I treat it at home?

Two days ago I started feeling some discomfort and thought nothing of it because I'm only 16 and not sexually active. The next day my vulva was very itchy/red and I had a clumpy light yellow discharge. I looked up home remedies because I'm too scared to tell my mom and it said apple cider vinegar wash and coconut oil were good. It definitely helped with the itching and redness. My discharge is kinda back to normal and only a little yellow, the only discomfort I feel now is when I walk it's kind of itchy. I think and hope it is going away. Please help I'm frustrated this has never happened.

You can try an over the counter treatment like monistat, if symptoms don’t resolve you should seek medical care.
Your symptoms sound a lot like a yeast infection. The best treatment for yeast is an antifungal medication followed by probiotics. There are many over-the-counter anti-fungal creams and the 7day option is the one I recommend- if you’re doing any home treatment. Made at home remedies may initially seem to work but they often make this worse. Nevertheless, it is best to get tested before starting treatment to make sure you know everything that needs to be treated. Although annoying, yeast infections can be common and nothing to be ashamed of. Please let your mom know and visit your doctor.
