“Do I have peptic ulcer disease, a gastrinoma or IBD?”
felt epigastric pain around the end of February and had an abdominal ultrasound which revealed a 0.2cm gallbladder polyp. I had an endoscopy 3rd wk of March. Findings were acute gastric erosions in antrum/ body, gastric ulcers in the pyloric area and duodenitis in the bulb.
Is this a diagnosis of peptic ulcer disease? All my gastro/ endoscopist said was that I didn't have to worry about any complications and didn't need a follow up endoscopy. It's hard to get an appointment with her. She put me on a two month course of Rabeprazole + Itopride which I was only able to start by mid-April.
I consulted with a different GE online and had a serum and stool H. pylori lab done both of which came back negative at the end of April. This was due to some lingering abdominal discomfort and persistent soft stool type 4-5 on most days at the time. I was not sure if this was due to stress.
I had a triphasic whole abdominal CT scan done by mid-May which came back clear except for a uterine myomata and left ovarian adnexal cyst (both of which I've had for at least 5 years already and are being managed by my OB). My stool had improved by then and had been consistently a type 3-4 until my period started in June.
It was on-off diarrhea and I had blood in 2 of my bowel movements after I passed stool 8x the day before. A GP friend made me take metronidazole which improved my symptoms somewhat and it went back to going maybe 1-2x a day, 3x at the most and I had on-off diarrhea with mucus again.
I'm also experiencing epigastric discomfort which I'm not sure is due to my anxiety as I've been feeling it only lately after finishing week course of Omeprazole and feeling anxious about my new job and when I can see my gastro again.
The last gastro I consulted online has seen/ knows all these results but all he has mentioned is the possibility of IBD.
Could I possibly have a gastrinoma based on all the tests that have been done?
I would need to fly to a different city to have a gastrin lab done.
