Do gums recede with dentures?

I am a 69 year old female. I want to know if gums recede with dentures?

yes they do
Yes, bone and oral tissues can change or continue to shrink even after you get dentures.
Gums do not recede with a denture. However, with a complete denture, our bone can resorb and shrink. Our gums will go with the bone. This can cause a loose or ill-fitting denture. That is why I recommend a new denture every 10 years or so.
Ill-fitting dentures and case bone absorption, thus leading to bone and gum shrinkage.
The gums follow the support of the bone. Over time your jaws, without teeth will shrink. That is a direct result of not having teeth. This is why dentures will feel loose over time. An implant supported denture will help maintain your bone levels and restore function as close to having natural teeth.
