The structural integrity needs to be restored by your dentist / prosthodontist after the root canal procedure. The endodontist in all cases would prefer to have the tooth sealed from salivary contamination prior to seeing the dentist or prosthodontist
Teeth do become more fragile after root canal therapy. After the infected pulp is removed the treated tooth no longer has a blood supply and can become  brittle and susceptible to fracture. It's advisable to strengthen the tooth with a post and crown soon after the root canal is completed. Once restored a patient can expect many years of service from the treated tooth.

yes most teeth do become weaker after a root canal. In most cases the tooth is already compromised and should be restored properly with a crown ASAP
The tooth may dry out, weakening it or it may already be weakened by decay. This is why, after root canal therapy, they should be restored, preferably with a crown. Good Luck
