You will be in a cast for about 4-8 weeks. Depending always if it’s open surgery or arthroscopic
Well it depends on the type of ankle surgery performed ? If the surgery is soft tissue only (ie: ligamentous repair, tumor removal, etc.) then some type soft and elastic ankle support (brace) may have to be worn for a brief period of time after surgery. If the surgery involves bone repair (ie: fracture) then a more rigid type of support (brace) should be worn for several months after a cast or CAM walker is removed.
usually a cam boot
Hi! It depends on your surgery, typically you are places in a cast, splint or boot afterwards for a period of time.
I would discuss this with your surgeon.
It depends on the type of surgery. Please speak to your surgeon about this.
Sometimes. It depends on what type of surgery and what pathology was addressed.
It depends on what kind of ankle surgery is being performed. In some cases ankle braces are required for a period of time after the surgery. In other cases they are not required.

Some patient however require special braces after surgery know as ankle foot orthosis brace or a AFO. These braces might be required for a period of time after ankle surgery or for the rest of a patients life depending on the type of surgery and need.
