Do you need to wear glasses after cataract surgery?

I am a 49 year old female. I want to know if you need to wear glasses after cataract surgery?

Generally, if you wore glasses prior to surgery for distance, you wouldn't need them anymore - if you are having both eyes done. You would, however need glasses to read unless you did one of two options: 1. have a multifocal implant that provides you with some distance and near vision or 2. have the surgeon leave you slightly nearsighted in one eye (called monovision) to allow you to read with one eye and see distance in the other.
You will most probably need glasses for near vision after cataract surgery.
Sometimes. It depends on what the goal is. Sometimes the lens is placed to focus at distance only and then you might need reading glasses, we’re at near only in which case you might still need some glasses for distance. Or you can get a multifocal lens which will take care of both. The lenses have different prices. You should speak to your surgeon about your options. Many people do not need glasses after cataract surgery, and many do.
Depends on what type of cataract surgery you’re going for. Some are designed for multifocal implants vs. mono vision. Regardless, if you are getting only distance vision corrected, then most likely you will need some readers eventually.
