Not all bunions need surgery. They can be managed for the first 6 months with conservative treatment then if still painful can discuss surgery
Orthotics and motion control stable shoes can help but not fix the bunions. I suggest surgery only if it is painful during activities and it’s is slowing you down
Only if it's extremely painful.
There is not a one-answer question. if the bunion does not bother you, you do not need to go into surgery. surgery for bunions is necessary when they are painful.
The only way to structurally and physically correct a bunion deformity is to surgery, however there are other measures that can be taken if surgery is not desired, including bunion splints and straps pads and other conservative treatment options are also an option for many patients but none of them will actually make the bunion go away.
Bunions do not require surgery. If they do become painful and affects your daily activities then surgery can be considered. Jonathan M. Kletz, DPM Texas Foot WorksDallas, Athens and Gun Barrel City Texas214-340-8885
if shoe gear is an issue
Only if it is painful. Otherwise leave it alone
Depending on the severity of the bunion, and if nothing else gets rid of the pain, surgery may be indicated to correct the bunion deformity and eventually resolve the pain.
This is dependent on whether the bunion bothers you or not in terms of pain or interrupt quality of life activities or can't fit shoes, etc.... Or simply want to prevent the problem from getting worse.
