“Does acupuncture help vitiligo?”
I am a 25 year old male. I want to know if acupuncture helps vitiligo?

Yes, it can. Acupuncture, combined with herbs can be effective but will probably take from 1-3 months (with sessions being 2-3 times per week).
There are plenty of references of acupuncture treating vitiligo and/or their symptoms. In TCM, it is mostly addressing the liver and gallbladder disharmony that helps with the vitiligo. I haven’t personally treated this condition, but have heard the skin blotches slowly fade away with treatment. Check with your primary to see if you would be a good candidate for alternative medicine.

Hi there,
Thanks for your question. As for myself, I have not treated anyone with Vitiligo before. Vitiligo is an autoimmune disease and although many autoimmune diseases respond very well to acupuncture, I myself have never treated Vitiligo before, but there is an apparent imbalance in the immune system that could be causing it. I would advise that you do some research and see what you can find, or try to find a Licensed Acupuncture Physician in your area and ask their opinion.
Good Luck! Yours in Health!

That's an interesting question, I have not seen any patients for this or heard of other acupuncturist treating vitiligo. However, because it's autoimmunity related and acupuncture often helps in autoimmune conditions, it wouldn't make it worse and might help.
I assume you meant vertigo. Right? Vertigo has many causes, from simple wind condition to brain issues. Acupuncture can help expel excessive wind built up in your head and that might ease your vertigo issues.

I have no experience, personally, with this condition. With a quick internet search, I came across this:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7793350/
After reading it, it has given me some ideas for treatment and I suspect acupuncture could very well be helpful. Make sure to find a fully trained acupuncturist who has a degree from an acupuncture school. Plenty of inadequately trained people out there are legally allowed to call themselves acupuncturists with minimal training (chiropractors and doctors) as well as physical therapists performing "dry needling," which is not at all acupuncture.

Acupuncture alone for vitiligo I haven't seen to be consistently effective, though I have seen it help some cases. I would recommend that Chinese herbs are more effective in that case.
Though I have never treated vitiligo with acupuncture or seen someone do so, theoretically it should help.
Honestly, I've not had much success treating vitiligo with acupuncture. However, I do know some other acupuncturists who claim to have provided successful treatment.
