I am a 29 year old female. I want to know if depression counts as a disability?

Yes. Severe and chronic depression which interferes with activities of daily living can be considered a disability.
Depression exists on continuum, severe depressions are disabling. Most depressions are not disabling. A depression has to be really severe to be a disability.
